you all know i'm a big gilt* fan... so imagine my excitement when i saw they had some items from the set of 'midnight in paris.' have you seen it yet? it's close to the top of my list of my all-time favorites because it has everything and everyone i love: paris, the 20s, hemingway, toulouse-lautrec, scott & zelda (i LOVED zelda's character), picasso, gertrude stein, marion cotillard, michael sheen.... i could go on. but i'll just say everyone.
and everything.
in short, i'm rooting for it tonight at the academy awards. you've seen it, oui? if not, you'll need to go ahead and on-demand or redbox that tonight.
but anyways, here's what gilt has to say about the sale:
"Golden Age thinking"—the idea that life would be better if lived in a bygone era—is the driving force in the life of screenwriter Gil Pender (Owen Wilson), the main character in the film "Midnight in Paris," written and directed by Woody Allen. It’s this thinking that transports Pender to Paris’ Golden Age. There, he meets literary and art greats like Gertrude Stein (Kathy Bates), Salvador Dali (Adrien Brody), and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (Vincent Menjou Cortes). Immerse yourself in that storied time by taking this rare opportunity to buy authentic props from the film—many of them antiques. All net proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
wouldn't you have loved to score that super-pretty vintage guerlain compact and brush? it was used by rachel mcadams in the movie. (beware, her character's a real SYNT but she has great hair.)
will you be tuning in to hollywood's big night? i'm torn between that and watching a movie or two i haven't seen yet. or mixing up some french 75s and watching 'midnight in paris' another time. (and maybe 'an american in paris,' another super-favorite AND a big oscar winner.)
*what?! you're not on gilt? you better fix that.
