vpl.
vpl swimwear? be still my heart.
here's a quick getaway girl for you guys.
i'll admit it... i know very, very little about san diego. but i'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the weather there is pretty nice right now. at least nicer than the other 2/3 of the country. who's tired of this snow?
i'll be back for real next week. this week was a rough one. i've had to be at work every day, which was quite a feat considering okc's not equipped for this kind of snow. i finally got my car out of the driveway last night... just in time for more snow today. here's hoping i make it out of work tonight.
check out the design*sponge design guide for san diego... it's enough to make me want to visit.
stay warm, friends.
+ shoes by argila
+ top from delias
+ skirt from annie greenabelle for topshop
+ necklace from madewell
+ bag from bonjour mon coussin
+ marc by marc jacobs earrings
this is one of those getaway girl posts that i hope doesn't offend. i can just see you san antonio girls yelling at the computer right now: what? this girl thinks we dress like this? all belt buckles and cowboy boots? she probably thinks we all listen to tejano music and do the mexican polka, too.
but, no, i don't think that. do i think you should? yes, maybe. because i'm insanely jealous of that crazy-rich mexican-american culture in san antonio. it's colorful and loud and really, really tasty.
there was a point in college when i made regular weekend trips to san antonio, and i loved everything about it. i lived in austin and the dallas area for much of my life growing up, but san antonio is completely different.
i constantly crave it. the food, the music, the color.
hope y'all have a nice weekend.
+ boots from santa fe's back at the ranch
+ mexican market bag (these have long been an obsession... psst, click that link for design hilarity)
+ paper flowers (wear one in your hair!)
+ belt from calypso st. barth
+ earrings from kyler by joy o
+ marc by marc jacobs dress
+ patsy cline for the road (there's really no huge texas connection here, but it seemed to work with everything else.)

perfectly springy, too-cool-for-school collection right here from designer erin kleinberg.
(found thanks to butter + brass.)

i'm so very ready to break out of my sad, colorless winter rut. my printed summer dresses are beginning to taunt me from my clothes rack, my more colorful shoes are starting to sneak their way onto my feet, and i couldn't help painting my nails a perfect fuchsia last night.
who's with me? out with the cold and in with the sunshine?
these marc jacobs' perfect springy prints are from here and here. i'll take just one. please?
ok, who's going to buy this crazy-fun vintage top so i don't have to*? someone? please?
*sorry. couldn't help myself. i'll let you know how it works out but i'll tell you now i won't be half as cute as this girl!
it took a second for me to be sure about this... but now? i'm head over heels for it. love the pretty little button detail in the back.
i had a conversation last night with a friend of a friend about portland, and it piqued my interest. she described it as having great food and wine, which you know i'm all about. being a transplant from san francisco, though, she was less than thrilled about the shopping there — except for all the vintage, which she loves.
so i'm curious to hear what others have to say about the great pdx. i'd love to visit soon (like, i said: food! wine! and the ace hotel, of course) but would love to hear what you guys have to say, too.
and, if haven't heard all the business about 'portlandia' yet, you probably should. it looks kind of great. who knows if it might be available on itunes?
and now, here's the getaway girl look for the week. it has occurred to me that maybe i might offend someone with this series? so far, i haven't. but it's only my interpretation of how i see the city, whether i've been there or not. i tried not to get too grungy with this one.
+ boots from madewell
+ skinnies from topshop
+ top from alice + olivia (and for cheap!)
+ wolf belt buckle from alkemie (but i'd like the belt, too)
+ proenza schouler bag (who's tired of hearing about this from me?)
+ glasses by illesteva
+ 'either / or' from the late (and oh so great) portlander elliott smith
happy weekened, friends.

they are perfect tops for spring.
(also in the mood for these specs from raen optics. in a hard way.)
i CANNOT wait for these to be restocked.
i kind of have an unexplainable love for (and am strangely superstitious about) fortune cookies, so you see why it's necessary that i have one.
i especially love that pebbled leather one, third from the right, but that's what makes these little designs from diana eng all the more special: she recycles bits of leather from here and there and lets you know exactly where your unique little cookie came from.

there are two big reasons i wish i was jumping on a plane to salt lake city this weekend:
alt summit in downtown salt lake and the sundance film festival in nearby park city.
they both start next week, and i'm kicking myself for not being able to be there. if you aren't making it to alt this year, let's all promise to meet there next time, ok? i had the best time last year and promise you will, too.
here's an slc-inspired get-up for you... that ring! and (again) those boots!
+ sweater from topshop
+ the hotly debated sorel joan of arctic
+ geese-print bag by virginia johnson
+ black jeans from j brand
+ belt from toast
+ signet ring from conroy & wilcox
+ tank from victoria's secret
enjoy the weekend, friends.

loving everything lacy and dark from finnish designer minna hepburn, especially that one-sleeve number. i'd never take it off.
