emerson made.

isn't this perfect in so many ways? i'm really torn between the all-leather and the navy stars. which would you pick?

pamela love.

every so often, as you know, i come across something i just cannot live without. this ode to papel picado? this is what i cannot live without today. or, this month.

i need it. for dia de los muertos, which – in case you didn't know – is my secret favorite holiday. so see? i really need it. i won't even ask for anything else all month long. i've never needed anything more.

sidenote: did you know that ... when i was a kid, i was so greedy that i wanted everything i saw. (me? hard to believe, yes.) so, my parents enacted the "saturday present" rule. if i was able to not be greedy all week long, i'd get a present on saturday. ha. what good that did, right?

norma kamali.

four more reasons why i think she is brilliant:

one.
two.
three.
four.

(though four kind of reminds me of the derelicte collection in "zoolander" – but in a way less ridiculous way. i love it and would love to live in it all winter long. and that movie. oh how i love that movie.)

vince.

some things i wish were within my budget.

you knew i loved sequins, right?

bensoni.

loving these looks on sale at gilt today, especially that dress on top. (and socks and shoes, especially.)

psst. you still aren't on gilt? fix that now.

three horses.

let me count the ways...

via my fave of faves, you are my fave.

uniqlo.

some nice shots from uniqlo's fall line.

and, i can't wait to see more from this.

AND... i could watch this all day long.

cynthia rowley.

i've tried, really. so hard. to get in that crisp, cool fall spirit. but it's so hard when every time i walk outside (it's the end of september, let me remind you), i feel like i'm drowning in an ocean of humid, hellish heat. it won't stop.

so you can see why i'm having a bit of a time getting in the crisp, cool fall spirit. i don't even want to wear clothes to work. i'd rather face the humiliation (and firing) than to walk outside with even the lightest layer on. because it instantly sticks to my skin. like a plastic bag too close to a hot pot on the stove. you see how it is.

so someone, please, make it stop.

i want to be thinking about this. it's too soon to give up on fall and move straight on to resortwear, isn't it?

guest posts a go-go.

i hope you'll take a chance today to wander on over to pretty mommy and simple lovely, two of my very favorite and very (INSANELY) stylish blogs. (coincidentally, each spent some time in the same texas city i spent a good portion of my youth. small world, yes?)

there, you'll find some of the things i think are tops. actually, my post at pretty mommy went up eons ago; i've just been holding off for a 'you've got mail' tribute post. you can expect that next week. really.

go! go now, and enjoy your greedy little weekends.

spotted moth.

in my rush to get back to black-and-white basics for fall, i've forgotten how much i love brown. (and camel and tan.)

but when i discovered these earthy-colored finds from spotted moth, i thankfully remembered all over again.

that belt. oh my god, that belt. am i right? and, it's only $12.99. i am really right.

chip chop, part deux.

also... j'adore all of these looks.

chip chop.

style plus a sense of humor... please count me in.

(xxxxxl bag, le bag bag and, my very favorite, the the brown bag big bag)

fall wishlist, no. 9: alternative apparel.

let's go ahead and add this to the list of things i could easily live in.

stay tuned tomorrow for some more turtleneck (and favorite fall movie) love.

fall wishlist, no. 8: tights.

what's your favorite way to wear tights? this fall, i vow to make the most of them. every year i kick myself for not wearing them more. and these from modcloth and anthropologie look like a good place to start.

nosideup.

remember a couple months ago when i confessed allll my love for spanish artist maria gil ulldemolins?

well, i meant to share it last week, but i'm excited to tell you now she's hosting a super-generous giveaway for two lucky, lucky winners. the prize? a custom portrait. wouldn't you love to have, say, your wedding hair immortalized in a portrait like one of those above? or even just your everyday hair (though my everyday hair is not portrait-worthy). or, you also have the option to pick one of these new-to-me portraits in color by maria. either would be a wonderful win.

so go here and enter through wednesday! but hurry because, remember, she's a few hours ahead of most of us.

gracias, maria, for including us in your giveaway fun, and congratulations on your blog anniversary!

tommy hilfiger.

in looking for this image, i found there was a very shared blogger reaction to these boots: wtf?

but me? i LOVE them. in fact, if i had long&lean legs, these might've moved straight to the top of my fall wishlist. well, and actually, i'd already own them.

i'm also really big on tommy hilfiger's new meet the hilfigers campaign. very tenenbaums-esque. and you know i like that.

alexa chung for madewell.

i try really, really hard not to share things on here that are already inundating the blogosphere, which is what i imagine this alexa-chung-for-madewell business is doing today.

but i had to share these two shots of ms. chung. bat top and hair, you'll be mine.

mng by mango (at jcpenney).

i was so excited to recently find out about european brand mng by mango making a debut at jcpenney, of all places, and i can't wait to check it out in stores.

(semi-related: i think scarjo looks amazing in the mng fall campaign.)

margaret solow.

loving this super-gorgeous necklace by margaret solow. aren't you?

regular posting will resume this week... last week was, well, interesting. i found out the desert is not for me. strangely, it wasn't the five straight days without a toilet or bed that turned me against it.

it was the day that came next, which will forever be remembered as the day we almost were eaten alive by mountain lions/scorpions/lethal spiders/the sun/rattlesnakes/the unknown.

not my finest hour (or nine).

that is radical self-reliance, my friends.

print liberation.

the shirt's rad, but i'll admit that it's her hair that sold me on it.

see more of my print liberation love here.
