fall wishlist, no. 8: tights.

what's your favorite way to wear tights? this fall, i vow to make the most of them. every year i kick myself for not wearing them more. and these from modcloth and anthropologie look like a good place to start.

remember a couple months ago when i confessed allll my love for spanish artist maria gil ulldemolins?
well, i meant to share it last week, but i'm excited to tell you now she's hosting a super-generous giveaway for two lucky, lucky winners. the prize? a custom portrait. wouldn't you love to have, say, your wedding hair immortalized in a portrait like one of those above? or even just your everyday hair (though my everyday hair is not portrait-worthy). or, you also have the option to pick one of these new-to-me portraits in color by maria. either would be a wonderful win.
so go here and enter through wednesday! but hurry because, remember, she's a few hours ahead of most of us.
gracias, maria, for including us in your giveaway fun, and congratulations on your blog anniversary!
in looking for this image, i found there was a very shared blogger reaction to these boots: wtf?
but me? i LOVE them. in fact, if i had long&lean legs, these might've moved straight to the top of my fall wishlist. well, and actually, i'd already own them.
i'm also really big on tommy hilfiger's new meet the hilfigers campaign. very tenenbaums-esque. and you know i like that.

i try really, really hard not to share things on here that are already inundating the blogosphere, which is what i imagine this alexa-chung-for-madewell business is doing today.
but i had to share these two shots of ms. chung. bat top and hair, you'll be mine.
i was so excited to recently find out about european brand mng by mango making a debut at jcpenney, of all places, and i can't wait to check it out in stores.
(semi-related: i think scarjo looks amazing in the mng fall campaign.)
loving this super-gorgeous necklace by margaret solow. aren't you?
regular posting will resume this week... last week was, well, interesting. i found out the desert is not for me. strangely, it wasn't the five straight days without a toilet or bed that turned me against it.
it was the day that came next, which will forever be remembered as the day we almost were eaten alive by mountain lions/scorpions/lethal spiders/the sun/rattlesnakes/the unknown.
not my finest hour (or nine).
that is radical self-reliance, my friends.
well, my legs aren't mearly that hairy (pre-burning man) but i still kind of need these. sometimes you just need a manly shoe.
love that they're made of waxed canvas.
and, yes, maybe i've been sartorially inspired by "twilight," which i finally have seen. so?

hiiii, guys. sorry posting's light this week. i'm busy trying to get ready for my trip.
for now, here's a look at some pretty that's caught my eye lately. i'd die for those tights, that clutch and that jacket (or is it a shrug? well, i'd die for anything furry and purple, really).
i'll be back tomorrow with some fall goodness. it's 77 outside! and breezy! do you know how long it's been since it's been 77 in the middle of the day? MONTHS.
(click through for photos' sources.)
some more back-to-school finds to start the week...
clockwise from top left:
pencil holder from kate's paperie, my favorite pencil sharpener from the container store, recycled newspaper pencils from giant robot, 'this machine kills fascists' pencil set* from you and me the royal we, robot sharpener from kate's paperie.
*brilliant.
THESE SHOES, guys. i've never wanted anything more. really. really.

why do i never look this good in jeans and a t-shirt? (and she's sans bra, natch...)
via new-to-me-blog favorite, the pink and blue blog. unlike ms. pink and blue, i can't wait to cut the color out for fall.
loving the braided handle on this animal-friendly bag from kind boutique.
so this coat is nothing short of amazing. now, if only i could have those long, skinny legs and that pair of pants.
extra points to whoever can tell me what's going on with net-a-porter carrying j.crew.
you remember gypsy, yes? that lovely line of hawaiian-inspired underwear?
well, thanks to kate, the girl behind the brand, you can now get 25 percent off her august day undies, a pretty mix of pink, orange and yellow from a vintage hawaiian palm tree print.
thank you so much, kate! everyone loves a pretty pair of panties.
(psst. don't you love the photos for the collection? you can get one of my favorites here.)
p.s. forgot to mention... the sale's good through next wednesday!
if i could do it all over again, these would be at the top of my school supply shopping list.
but since i would never, ever do it all over again, maybe i need them just because?
top of my list? this hot bag made from an old leather jacket.
one year when i was probably about 8, my back-to-school must-have was a brown bomber jacket. i loved the sheet out of that thing.
and the leather was just like this. maybe it's my jacket reincarnate calling my name all these years later?
know of something i might like, have a product you'd like featured or just want to send me lovely things?
just e-mail me at cd@iamagreedygirl.com.
