lux coronette.

still not tired of the creepy jewelry.

orange you glad...

... it's october?

steven alan sweater | jcrew belt (kind of really obsessed with this. it's even brighter in the store) | bambako headband | all black sequin flat (really loving this brand right now)

a poll: pink or black?

these need to be on my feet. and SOON.

i may not be able to refrain from both. but for the sake of discussion... pink or black?

bambako's 100 percent for the cure.

it's october! that means more than a few things. 1) it might actually start getting cooler outside. 2) it's halloween time. 3) it's my mom's birthday. and, 4) it's breast cancer awareness month.

while the first two are great and all, the last two mean a lot to me. now i am not one to get sappy and shit, but i've got a story to tell. (edited to add: i trimmed it down from a novel. you're welcome.)

five years ago, my mom was sick. and i was sad. well, we were both sad. i signed up to race for the cure (in all honesty, i slept in for the cure). i learned to like pink. and i started paying some attention to breast cancer awareness month. i feel very lucky to say that my mom is happy and well now. she even has perky, healthy new boobs to show for her months and months of surgeries and chemotherapy.

so this october...

...i'll try to appreciate and give thanks for my cumbersomely big (and healthy) boobs. i'll try not to curse them or even beg for kate moss's.

...i'll look forward to awful amounts of pink (i might even wear some) and uncomfortable boobie talk.

...and, we'll celebrate my mom's birthday. ... she'll be 53! (she'll love that i mentioned that.) happy (early) birthday, mommy!

p.s. on a whim, i created a susan g. komen fundraising page, something i'd never thought to do before. feel free to give. if not, no biggie. just promise me you'll go feel yourself up today.
p.p.s. you'd love to know about that headband, right? it's $28, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to susan g. komen for the cure. oh, and it's gorgeous. and pink.

/boobie talk

thank you, ebay.

has my oxford wait finally paid off? because i want both. hurry, payday, so i can do some damage!

totokaelo.

lots to love if you haven't been already.

go ask alice.

bread + butter giveaway winner.

congratulations, blair! i'll be in touch to get your details.

thank you to everyone who played along. the prints came saturday, and they're even more likable in person!

let me know if you end up getting anything! sadly, there will be no shoes for me this time.

discreet charm.

what is with me lately and the jewelry?

jak & jil.

there is so much i had in my head to post. but i copped out. so, instead, i will offer you these awe-inspiring shots from jak & jil.

i hope you have a beautiful first weekend of fall. i have very few plans and can't wait. maybe a couple beers, a glass of wine, a lot of cuddling, a little shopping.

oh, and don't forget to enter the giveaway for the post-consumption anxiety print. i'll be choosing a lucky winner later in the afternoon. (and, for an extra entry, you can retweet this.) bonne chance!

victoria mason.

sharp, don't you think?

and, it reminds me of this wonderful 'you've got mail' quote i found over at her name was lola:

don't you love new york in the fall? it makes me want to buy school supplies. i would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if i knew your name and address.

i'd send all of you such bouquets if i could. and, on a sad note, i've never been to new york in the fall. every other season. but not fall. autumn in new york... some day. for now, i'll keep watching kathleen kelly and joe fox. f - o - x. that movie, i won't lie, is in my top six. i can't help it.

via all the mountains again.

to sir with love.

wouldn't life be just a little bit nicer with just a little more cashmere? case in point, to sir with love. lots of love.

via all the mountains.

oak nyc.

things i wish i could pull off... no, forget that. i could pull those boots off. i could OWN those boots. what? you're tired of hearing about them?

ideeen top | cheap monday cords | acne boots

today i like...

i don't actually need to go into how right these are, right?

christopher kane dress (nice, right?) | marc jacobs boots | erica weiner hummingbird skull necklace (blogged this before. still in love. halloween gift to self?)

apparently the shoes didn't go over so well in the blogging community, however. descriptions included elf dominatrix shoes; U G L Y, U G L Y, U G L Y; absolutely weird and hideous; and so on.

but i kind of love them. maybe because they remind me slightly of the acnes that never were.

erica weiner.

so of course erica weiner has some amazing things in her jewelry line. but shoe clips? think of the possibilities. i remember my mom buying these for me when i was little, but i can't believe i had forgotten about them. especially now, when i need them the most and 90 percent of my shoe closet goes unworn.

goose grease.

i know i am late to the game on these, but COME ON. these custom wedding toppers are actually the most adorable thing ever invented. adorbs, as they say.

and, the goodness doesn't stop there:

um, awesome?

lauren merkin at gilt.

kind of hating on myself for not holding out for lauren merkin when i snatched up a new watch (for really cheap though!) yesterday from gilt.

and, last time (this week) i'll solicit you to sign up, but here you go.

digby and iona.

kind of an awesome ring, isn't it?

p.s. my link list on the right has gotten a little messed up. so bear with me while i fix it. HA. BEAR with me.

urban outfitters.

i've spied more than a few things i wouldn't mind having this fall. maybe a dallas shopping trip is in order?

i hope everyone had a nice weekend. mine was filled with oklahoma state fair (yes, it's exactly like you would imagine) fun and cuddle time. oh, and really gross allergic reactions to farm animals. thanks, fair!

deena & ozzy wedge | jeffrey campbell wedge | fletcher by lyell silk dress | kimchi blue linen dress

bread + butter. plus, a giveaway.

couldn't resist this. and i plan to frame it exactly the same way.

p.s. i just noticed i have more than a thousand readers, and i just about teared up. so, let's celebrate! leave a comment with your e-mail address, and one of you will also get a print. i'll choose next friday at 5 p.m. cst.

post-consumption anxiety print by bread + butter.

gilt.

nixon watches are on sale on gilt today... i'm torn between wooden and orange.

if you haven't signed up, here's a link. it's worth it sometimes!

happy weekend to y'all.

do you see those boots? they're mine now, thanks to my sweet joe who surprised me with them (wrapped!) earlier this week. except for some reason, my normally-size-7 feet did not come close to fitting, and they had to go back. hopefully their replacements come soon and an 8 does the trick. thank you, joe! you are good to me. i blogged about them way back when and was really excited to see them in black now (there is gray wool in the back and on the top, which i particularly love). hurry up, boots!

now, more about the above outfit:

for me, for you necklace (i won't get into how much i love it. thanks, kate!) | american eagle cord skirt | uniqlo cardigan | vpl vent tank | gap bag | simple boots uniqlo raspberry beret (added for comic effect)

lastly, do you shop uniqlo? tell me about the quality. i'd love to fill my closet with everything they have.

bing bang jewelry by anna sheffield.

1. that necklace is amazing.
2. i really need those earrings. really need them.
3. how pretty and simple is that bangle?

to summarize, i really like the work of amanda sheffield.

untamed menagerie.

oddly spectacular spooktacular?

ha sorry i couldn't resist.

sophie theallet.

pretty, don't you think?

gap.

i'll probably need to make that vest mine this weekend.

heathered puffer | wool duffel (via camp comfort) | tweed military jacket

back at the ranch.

suuuurely if you were to spend $2000 for a pair of gold cowboy boots, you could ask them to hold the silver tips, right?

if you're ever in santa fe, stop by this store. i promise good things.

karen walker and derek lam.

finally got to catch up on some fashion week looks tonight. now if only i had the gams for lam. (the bit more wearable walker is here).

prismera design.

really loving these new hair accessories by laura su. i'd be afraid they'd get lost in my light hair though. maybe it is time to go darker?
