i will be going to belgium (and paris!) in july and, while it is three months away, i'm already packing in my head. it's my first trip to europe so i am beyond excited.
joanna already started the shoe discussion, from which i've gained a lot of insight. but what is really troubling me is clothes.
obviously i don't want to stick out as an american (an okie, at that) but i also don't want to attempt the dark-and-brooding-european act either.
my tentative plan is to play it classic & cool with dark skinny jeans and black t-shirts. that kind of look.

and that card? perfection, i'd say. the last photo, of course, is from the marc jacobs parfum campaign from a couple years back, shot by juergen teller, who i thought had been the one behind that kirsten photo. guess not! happy to have found all this via funambula, my newest go-to site for eye candy.

so my mom has her heart set on a family trip/genealogical quest to belgium at the end of the summer.
yes, belgium... perhaps the most obscure country in europe? my knowledge does not go further than waffles, chocolate, trappist beer, NATO and brussels griffons.
i don't doubt that it's beautiful and interesting and historical. but it's just hard for me to imagine because there's no an american in antwerp or bridget janssen's' diary.

my boyfriend and i are planning (hoping, praying, wishing) to get to new york this summer. it's been far too long. we've never been together, and i've always wanted to experience new york in love! i imagine it's just like in the movies.
