i am really wanting a new camera. something a bit more substantial than my point&shoot but not quite a dslr. anyone have suggestions?

above: canon powershot, leica v-lux (what i really want but cannot afford) and panasonic lumix.

in the meantime, i think it's time my slr saw a little action. maybe we'll get that out this weekend.

wouldn't that be nice on some days?

and under $12 for a set of 8 of these pads? that's a lot of days...

via stuff under twenty, which i'll add is a nice resource for scoring cute things on the cheap. i think we can all use a bit of that right now.

so maybe i've spent hours and hours today looking at silly japanese printed fabric. maybe i was a little inspired by the fabrics in my last two posts. and maybe i just happen to have developed a really big obsession with said silly japanese printed fabric.

thanks, super buzzy for keeping me super busy tonight. tomorrow, i take on repro depot.

ideas for what i could do with the fabric? i'm thinking pillows. and little girl skirts. and maybe big girl skirts. kawaii!

might not be able to live without this pillow from olive's etsy shop. and at $17, the price is pretty right.

some pretty wares from jennifer ladd. the paris clutch will be mine as soon as i get a little spending money.

and those booties? cutest ever? could be? yes.

sigh. if only pugs could wear booties.

lovely cards from essimar papel, using various media such as graphite, die-cut paper and screenprinting inks.

psst. her blog is pretty lovely, as well.

check out these illustrations and patterns from studio violet of gothenburg, sweden. i'll have to snatch up some of the postcards soon. and what a great way to display them, no?

you know how i feel about nina simone...

and this just sets my heart a'flutter.

i could watch it over and over again for days. what do you think?

from top: the english dept. (via coco+kelley), indulgencecouture (yes, that's a rainbow), holly stalder, lola show girl, modernromancepdx.

and, if you missed the first go-round, you can find some more sigh-worthy pieces here.

some springy vintage from et al., etc.

i'll stop with the etsying now!

there's nothing prettier or more perfectly understated than a blind impression, and this custom set from simplesong designs couldn't be better proof. and, anyone who uses futura is a designer after my own heart.

a couple looks i loved from moschino's fall ready-to-wear line in milan.

you know how sometimes you get a little self-conscious because your friend moves to california and makes a new friend that's so much cooler than you are? welcome to my life.

my friend holly's friend, miss vu, rocks my world with her daily style shots.

i think she'll rock yours too.

isn't this white sapphire (who knew?) ring just so stunning?

actually, all of the work by kate szabone is pretty nice.

some things that caught my eye...
foundling, marysgranddaughter and morelle.

le colonel.

wouldn't you love to own a couple of these pieces from french accessories boutique le colonel?

proprietor julia has this to say about her promising new line:

The Colonel is neither Mustard nor Moustached!

He's wild about military embroidery, he's mad about plaid and he loves lace. And while the elegant and delicate creations that bear his name may be inspired by bygone days, they are never old fashioned.

They hark back to a time when the charm of finely embroidered caps rivaled the glittered of golden epaulettes. Skillfully selecting from the best of the turn-of-the-century, the Colonel appropriates unerringly its shapes and silhouettes that he reinvents from season to season. Don't miss the hats, headbands and "head jewellery" to mix and match with belts and brooches.

When the accessories (have) an important place in the way you dress, Le Colonel, a young accessories label, makes the difference mixing modernity and the glamour of the 20s in its creations.

you know i am all for that. salut!

hayden-harnett.

thalia dress.

i really am liking the look of painted fabric, and kind of want to try my hand at it with a crispy white skirt that's gotten too dingy-looking to wear. anyone have any experience with it?

in the meantime, i think this dress should be on me right this moment. it's an amazing 75 degrees out today, and i can feel spring right around the corner.

i can't help but want every color, especially the yellow duffle.

rarely do i come across a fragrance that i really, really love. but this new dkny be delicious perfume called 'fresh blossom' smells so springy and, well, fresh that i can't wait to pick up a bottle.

what perfume or perfumes do you use?

i was using masaki matsushima varieties in chocolate and cherry but i'm growing kind of sick of them (like thinking-about-them-makes-me-gag sick). so i think i'll make the switch back to marc jacobs essence in the meantime. it's also a nice spring scent.

what an exciting post! now, ladies, share... what do you wear?

speaking of winnings...

i completely forgot to mention that a long, long time ago (november! time flies!), i was lucky enough to win this skirt by martha of uniform studio. (if you didn't see, the skirt happened to grace the cover of stitch magazine and, if you didn't already know, is in my favorite colorway.)

annnyway, i think holiday madness got the best of martha (and, me too, for that matter), and i haven't received it yet, which has been fine since the weather's been awful.

but now! the weather's warming up, and i can't wait to slip it on.

martha, martha, hear my plea!

update! the skirt came today, and it couldn't have found a better day to arrive. it's beautiful and sunny and warm. the skirt is even prettier than i had hoped, and my day is made! thank you, martha!

thank you, coco+kelley!

a lot of the time i feel like my insatiable desire for pretty things is a really big character flaw.

then, wonderful things like this happen, and that really big character flaw really pays off.

thank you so much to the lovely cassandra of coco+kelley and to the pepper kids (cute little shop for kids, moms and non-moms!) for these 22k gold vermeil rose cut smoky quartz (perhaps my favorite stone?) earrings.

this girl is putting on the ritz the moment these show up.

p.s. check out this monogram necklace.

michelle williams.

how does she always looks so effortlessly chic?

she's come a long way since slutty jen lindley.
