le colonel.

wouldn't you love to own a couple of these pieces from french accessories boutique le colonel?
proprietor julia has this to say about her promising new line:
The Colonel is neither Mustard nor Moustached!
He's wild about military embroidery, he's mad about plaid and he loves lace. And while the elegant and delicate creations that bear his name may be inspired by bygone days, they are never old fashioned.
They hark back to a time when the charm of finely embroidered caps rivaled the glittered of golden epaulettes. Skillfully selecting from the best of the turn-of-the-century, the Colonel appropriates unerringly its shapes and silhouettes that he reinvents from season to season. Don't miss the hats, headbands and "head jewellery" to mix and match with belts and brooches.
When the accessories (have) an important place in the way you dress, Le Colonel, a young accessories label, makes the difference mixing modernity and the glamour of the 20s in its creations.
you know i am all for that. salut!

thalia dress.
i really am liking the look of painted fabric, and kind of want to try my hand at it with a crispy white skirt that's gotten too dingy-looking to wear. anyone have any experience with it?
in the meantime, i think this dress should be on me right this moment. it's an amazing 75 degrees out today, and i can feel spring right around the corner.
what perfume or perfumes do you use?
i was using masaki matsushima varieties in chocolate and cherry but i'm growing kind of sick of them (like thinking-about-them-makes-me-gag sick). so i think i'll make the switch back to marc jacobs essence in the meantime. it's also a nice spring scent.
what an exciting post! now, ladies, share... what do you wear?
speaking of winnings...
i completely forgot to mention that a long, long time ago (november! time flies!), i was lucky enough to win this skirt by martha of uniform studio. (if you didn't see, the skirt happened to grace the cover of stitch magazine and, if you didn't already know, is in my favorite colorway.)
annnyway, i think holiday madness got the best of martha (and, me too, for that matter), and i haven't received it yet, which has been fine since the weather's been awful.
but now! the weather's warming up, and i can't wait to slip it on.
martha, martha, hear my plea!
update! the skirt came today, and it couldn't have found a better day to arrive. it's beautiful and sunny and warm. the skirt is even prettier than i had hoped, and my day is made! thank you, martha!
thank you, coco+kelley!
a lot of the time i feel like my insatiable desire for pretty things is a really big character flaw.
then, wonderful things like this happen, and that really big character flaw really pays off.
thank you so much to the lovely cassandra of coco+kelley and to the pepper kids (cute little shop for kids, moms and non-moms!) for these 22k gold vermeil rose cut smoky quartz (perhaps my favorite stone?) earrings.
this girl is putting on the ritz the moment these show up.
p.s. check out this monogram necklace.
soia & kyo.
i don't know how the canadian dollar compares to the american dollar (i really should know this, though, right? no! i'm no economist!), but the price ($365CAD) sounds pretty nice.

i've always loved hibiscuses.
a little note to all:
sorry for the lack of oh-so-witty banter.
i refuse to give more money to the cable company for internet (newspaper wages + mountain of debt = i'm lucky to have electricity) but it's starting to dawn on me that this poor little blog o' mine is suffering.
... that's all.
best,

p.s. this is a new hair goal. it's so pretty. it's a shame i recently got a whack-job cut. a real shame.

great valentine's day idea.

from jordan at oh happy day:
My friend Aubrey Trinnaman told me about this GENIUS idea and I'm so excited that she decided to do it. Basically the premise is this. Send her $35 on Paypal and tell her the name of your Valentine and short (optional) message and she will create an original custom Valentine for them. She is on my list of the top 5 talented people I know so you can guarantee it will be amazing. She made a few samples {even one for me!} to get the idea. There is only a limited number of them so order now before they are all filled up. Go here to purchase. The best part is that you'll have an original piece of art that you can frame for your house--quite a steal for $35.
go here!
smart girl!
anthropologie will be the end of me.
but it's soooo beautiful. and it could double as a maxi dress. don't think i wouldn't do it. because i would.
jonesin' for some sunshine.
xoxo to cynthia rowley for 20 percent off through feb. 14 (code: cr214).
