so thanks to the always enchanting joanna goddard (um girlfriend got engaged if you hadn't heard!), i've found a couple i just really want to marry. or at least be the really creepy neighbor who offers to water their plants way too much.

the couple (she wore a wonderful headpiece on her wedding day) happen to be pretty talented designers, and they've just launched a shop.

i really love this poster for black kids, except i felt pretty lame for never having heard them.

so i popped right over to trusty old myspace*, and guess what? they sound pretty good.

so now i can purchase the print without being a poseur, right?

i'm on my way out the door to vote, then to work where i will have an impossible time sitting still and working. i think that will probably be true for most of us today.

election day has finally come (almost) and i feel like snl's kristen wiig in those crazy surprise party skits.

being a completely unbiased newspaper person, i don't really feel comfortable publicly detailing how UTTERLY INCREDIBLE AND EDIFYING it was to see our next president barack obama (and michelle!) speak in springfield, mo., (we were like on the 20 yard line!) on saturday night.

instead, i'll just encourage each and every one of you to head to your polling place tomorrow and vote for the best man, whomever you believe that to be. this is just my second time to vote for president and last time was a pretty big letdown so my stomach's already upset. but my fingers are crossed! and yours should be, too.

happy halloween, all. favorite of all holidays.

this week was supposed to be filled with pumpkin and candy bliss but instead it's been all snotty pillowcases and nyquil. and vomiting all over my poor boyfriend's bedroom.

no fantastical costumes or caramel apples.

not even a halloween office party.

just a bed of violated kleenex. and me.

to be fair, it's only 11 p.m. on all hallows' eve and i've been awake for a whole 3 hours (a pretty big improvement over the last few days, including the days i was at work), so there's still a chance to save halloween.

but, by god, did i screw it up this year. best i did was buy an autumn harvest candle from wal-mart.

i've really let myself down.

i expect a weird sort of week so posting may continue to be light. my neighbor decided it was time to move and TOOK HIS INTERNET WITH HIM, if you can believe it, so until i get the internet man out or a trusting new neighbor with wifi moves in, don't expect too much from me.

we decided, thanks to a failing economy (no, really, thanks, wall street!), that our dia de los muertos party would need to hold until next year. that means we'll be going costume-less for the most part (unless i can scavenge some angela chase from the depths of my wardrobe).

i decided i couldn't let my favorite holiday go by without a little flair, so i whipped up a couple fall-ish headbands*. to be fair, the first one i made for a wedding a few weeks ago.

but the last one is nearly jet black and kind of crow-esque (not the movie), and that crazy yellow is really growing on me.

allllso, because it's my girlfriend duty, i'll mention that if you're in the okc area saturday night you should head out to the 2nd annual ghouls gone wild parade, sponsored by the oklahoma gazette**. the flaming lips and his crazy crew of marching skeletons will make it worth your time, i promise.
