enjoy eileeneo on etsy!

i am the worst in the world because sweet eileen sent me a note about her etsy shop nearly a month ago. it never left my well-maintained inbox though, that's how committed i was to sharing her work with you.

so, finally! isn't this necklace lovely? it's so simple but still so stunning. stunningly simple, even.

check out more of the chicago-based jewelry designer's pretty pieces here. (this comes in at a close second.)

i've got my eye on a few things for my christmas list, and i know you will too.

what i want more than anything today.

... a quiet apartment.

my landlord is remodeling the apartment below mine, so starting every day at 7:55 a.m., it's nothing but guns n' roses and power tools. and, because i work nights, this lasts UNTIL I GO TO WORK.

i realize i'm not on the same clock as the real world, but oh my dear god i'm coming close to homicidal.

i've come so close to stumbling down there, eyemask on head and earplugs jammed in, and asking them to keep it down (i mean, there's a mothereffing TABLE SAW OUTSIDE MY WINDOW. bzzzzzzBEEEEEEEEEZZZZZbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezbeeeeeeebzzzzBEEEEEZZZZZZ. this is how it goes). but because i'm afraid of being adrienne shelley-ed, i just stick with what i do best: passive aggressive foot-stomping. and it doesn't get the point across to these people.

ok, so now that i've had some juice and my ipod is charged (i hope you do the trick, natural sounds' soothing thunderstorm), i'm going to give it another try. and i'm going to dream of quiet places and dark rooms.

your assignment while i'm away is to find the best, heaviest-duty earplugs ever manufactured, and an eyemask that doesn't leak light.

also, you can find me a super-sweet apartment. maybe sfgirlbybay will let me shack up with her in the meantime. that's her cozy-looking bedroom above.

sigh.

is leanne marshall god?

i just found out about leanne marshall's etsy shop and it was like i died and went to heaven. except everything in heaven was sold out and i was really sad.

let's take a look at what could have been:

amazing stuff, leanne*. i know you're going to kick some serious effing ass at fashion week.

more from her line leanimal.

*does leanne read my blog? no. no. why am i talking to her? oh yeah. because she's god.

bling, baby, bling.

my mom & favorite breast cancer survivor recently treated herself to this pretty, pretty ring* (top left). and it immediately made me want all three of the following ones. unfortunately, even one would cut wellll into my rent money.

so, in the name of a good cause, i plan to wear hers A LOT. at least until christmas rolls around (she's been advised on my preference of the other three).

does anyone know of any more fun 'pink for the cure' stuff? i meant to do a megapost on it for breast cancer awareness month, but i just had a hard time finding things beyond the regular scarves and pins.

*remember when karey of mackin ink got hers? i do. sooo pretty.

i'm definitely not on the nordic track.

sometimes i really hate my parents for not being scandinavian enough.

i mean, i love my splotchy red skin, dishwater blonde hair and big english bones as much as the next person, but what i wouldn't give to be her just for a day! vintage fits her perfectly, she rocks the red lipstick and her hair is never out of place.

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

oh jcrew.

how i love you.

but why you got to cost me so much?

fresher than fresh.

so here's a very little-known (ha i wish) fact about me: i am gluttonous as well as greedy.

so imagine my disappointment when i realized i completely missed this while in kansas city last month. i was super-disappointed, ok? because i live for snowcones, you hear?

not only does girlfriend make these delicious-looking treats ON THE SIDE, she (lindsay larick, that is) is half* of the creative force behind hammerpress.

yeah, designer extraordinaire and snowcone master with like the best hair ever. you want to hate her, right? yeah, me too.

read all about exactly how brill she is in this design sponge interview (it ran a week or so after we got back. jeez, grace).

photos shamelessly stolen from le flickr.

*the other half, of course, being brady vest, who joe and i were delighted to meet on our trip. brady even hails from this great state of oklahoma. and his shop. left. us. in. awe. really, we were depressed for a week, that space was so amazingly sweet.

it's a mad mad mad mad world.

i have yet to watch mad men (waiting to borrow someone's first season), so i carefully avoid any plot news like the plague (or nauseating cloud of cigarette smoke, in this case).

but when it comes to those dresses and those updos (and, let's be honest, dapper men in skinny suits and ties), it's really hard to just say no.

so when i was tipped off to these nobody's sweetheart illustrations for sale as prints or t-shirts, i was immediately drawn (ha, get it) in. if that's not enough, head to said illustrator's flickr photostream for more. or, even, her blog, which is funny and will take up even MORE of your time without you realizing it.

want to get your betty (or joan) on? head over to vintageous.

ll bean.

this may be the dorkiest post ever, but here goes.

my travel (and love) mate has this bag in yellow, and i want it for myself.

my weekender bags are these awkward things i bought back before our first trip together. we went to cape cod, and i thought the bags were so cape cod.

now, they're so not comfortable or convenient. they make packing a bitch and are not nice to my shoulders.

so i'm looking for something easier and more throw-it-in-the-bag casual.

this is where ll bean comes in. particularly, this bag.

only, obviously, i can't get have it in the same color. because he already has it.

so, green. what do you think? or maybe i like royal. or even navy.

and i think large is the way to go. (there's also medium — a carry-on size — and extra large, so this is actually medium.)

any reader suggestions on all of this? i know you're very concerned about me making the right decision.

UPDATE: on second thought (four seconds later) he doesn't have the rolling duffle, i don't think. but maybe i want that. although the non-rolling variety is amazingly cheap.

stellllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

what's not to love about caitlin shearer's work? after spending an hour on her flickr photostream, i've decided this (above) was my favorite. sadly, it's not in her etsy shop. maybe someday? (hint, hint, caitlin.)

i know, i KNOW.

... but hear me out:

one, they look like macarons for your feet (yum).

and also, they look ridiculously comfortable.

born shilo, $179

crystal clear.

after seeing tom hanks rocking a pair of clear frames at the emmys, i decided it was time to get really serious about finding some specs of my own.

thankfully, cat tipped me off to a mighty good resource: zenni optical.

skeptical about any pair of glasses (prescription, no less) that doesn't set me back at least a few hundred dollars, i did some research.

i came across this article in slate, which pretty much sealed the deal for me. (i mean, if slate says it's legit, it must be legit, right?)

among other online specs shops are 39dollarglasses.com and eyebuydirect.com (the least janky of the sites).

my favorites (the top right and bottom left) are $19 and $39, respectively. yeah. amazing.

i'll let you know how this turns out.

15 percent off at stylesmith!

don't forget that, through the 30th, you can get 15 percent off if you mention greedy girl at stylesmith!

bank account be damned, i plan to get my order in before the end of the month.

and you should too!

thanks again, kelsi!
