berkley illustration.

saw the work of ryan berkley on apartment therapy and was smitten.

animals in clothes? how distinguished, i say.

open letter to forever21.

dear forever 21 people,
why must you do this to me?
just please send me all of the above, and we'll call it even.
achingly yours,

tukaani chopsticks set.

i am the worst when it comes to using chopsticks. i can get by with sushi*, but if it comes to noodles, it's a no go. (actually, i feel pretty uncomfortable eating noodles with a fork, so maybe it's not a utensil problem after all.)

enough of my problems though.

lincoln kayiwa, a recent design school graduate in helsinki, was inspired by the bill of a toucan* when he designed this sterling silver chopsticks set. i love the easy grip.

completely practical and pretty, to boot. (the designer also gets extra points for being adorable.)

kayiwa oy, (i'll get in touch with mr. kayiwa about prices and ordering. check back!)

*watching lost in translation (one of my very faves) & hungry for sushi and tokyo.

**tukaani, get it? finnish words are so pretty.

two things.

a. a $349 dress is not a sale item. my eyes are filling with tears because that yellow beauty will never be mine. i'd love to look like a dainty little daffodil. no, but really.

b. why can't i be this girlie in the bottom row? she's like 4,000 more adorable than anyone i've ever seen. wait, i think it's just the lipstick. oh, and the effing fabulous blue and orange combos.

ampersand t-shirt.

i've had my eye on this for a while and keep neglecting to post it (though it's been ALL over the blogosphere in the past couple months). still, i like it.

my heart is hurting ...

for these moccasin boots. i tried to bid but my frugality won't let me go any further.

let's all shed a tear.

ebay, $28 (that's what they were when i started)

freddy&ma.

i am determined to one day own my very own freddy&ma bag. it's way too fun to wander over to their site and design pretty little bags. if you haven't yet done it, it's just about the most fun ever.*

and i love the idea of designing unique clutches for each of your bridesmaids like in the photo above.

*i hate days like this when i feel like i really need to blog something but stupid words just come out.

eye quilt.

... my sentiments evvvery single morning.

damn the books for keeping me awake.

as some of you may already be aware, i would – in a split second – drop everything and move to london to work for penguin uk.

and, for the chance to work for penguin classics, i'd abandon my dog, give up both arms, change my name and hitchhike across the pond with lead weights tied to my feet.

i don't know what it is. harper collins doesn't do it for me. chronicle doesn't come close. i'm all penguin, through and through.

among my recent beauts are the portable dorothy parker (aka all the dot parker – my favorite – you'll ever need) and the great ideas series. i'd love to have the full sets of both volumes one and two because, yeah, they're awfully nice.

volume three is due out soon, and it's, sigh, green. thanks to the genius boys (esp. cutie alistair*) over at we made this for a little peek into what's to come.

and special thanks to david pearson for being an absolute design god.

as you brits like to say, you are brill. brill, i say.

above, mark twain in the great journeys series. ah, can-can girls. this is on my to-buy list this weekend.

*sorry, joe! you're still my no. 1!

p.s. i don't need to go into my love for the pocket penguins but dear god i tried forever to order these and i couldn't get them shipped to the u.s. perhaps i'll begin my search all over again now that some time has passed? the sight of them all in one place nearly brings me to tears.

dearest mother nature,

please bring me fall. i promise to be good.

i want (and need) this so, so, so much! so, if you're feeling generous, i am accepting gifts. think of the good karma it would bring you.

macaron ring.

things have been so busy lately and i've gotten so behind on blogging. i am finally getting around to reading mountains of comments and e-mail, and look what karey found! macaron rings! they're such sweet little works of art. they're so funny in a marie antoinette serious kind of way.

p.s. hey, who's not been blogging lately? me. sorry about that. my not-so-mighty mouse has lost its ability to scroll down, which makes scrolling through hundreds of blog posts in google reader damn near impossible and leaves me really mad at my mac. so, bear with me and we'll get through this together.
