style question: safari shirt dress.

hi, all.

i bought this dress from old navy several weeks ago but have yet to wear it. i'd like to be able to wear it to work but it's shorter than what i'd normally wear and, therefore, in my opinion, needs some tights or something underneath (yay stifling dress environment).

my dilemma is this: it's a so-called safari dress. in most parts of the world, safari means tanned legs, which means no tights. so, how can i pull off tights without making it look completely wrong?

colors? textures?

i'd appreciate any help.

i love the fit of the dress, which is not common for me, so i don't want to give it up!

any suggestions?

old navy, $22

p.s. i really wish i had found it in green!

I'd go with gray tights with a fine ribbing. And maybe some kick ass boots.
Cute dress!

As a girl whose height means baring her bottom in anything that hits above the knee, I feel your pain. Love petunia face's suggestion; for warmer weather I'd recommend footless tights with a chunky, high-heel sandal and add a woven belt for good measure. Slim, white capris are another summery option.

I saw one at Newport News that's similar but it comes in blue too.

for those who haven't seen it, see it here.

and, it's longer too. may be an easier option!

I'd wear it with leggings in black, with black flats. Maybe add a chuncky necklace for some color?
