hips don't lie.

i absolutely love this skirt, but there's something about wrap skirts & caroline's hips that just don't go well together.

a very close friend once told me -- in all seriousness -- that i had 'great birthing hips.'

now, i'm a very, very proportionate (though admittedly curvy) person (with no immediate thoughts of popping out children), and i had (and still have) no idea how to respond to something like that.

so, birth this, bitch...

...kidding, of course.

cheap find of the day.

i found this today during an otherwise unsuccessful trip to old navy. actually, found the bottoms, then ordered the top. but i'm superexcited about it. i love end-of-summer swim sales.

ay caramba!

i'm still holding out for the day when i can make an agent provocateur purchase sans guilt. meanwhile, for all you richy rich lingerie lovers (and lingerie lovers' lovers), the fancy underpants label is having a sale of up to 60 percent off.

among my favorites (in case you're in a benevolent mood): caramba (i love that top the model on the right is wearing. where is that?), love new, cardini (like a lot!), vanishing stripe, and all of the classics.

more fun at agent provocateur.

my aunt accused me the other day of being domestic, which is something i oddly pride myself on not being. but i can be anti-domestic and wear an apron, can't i?

when i threw out the old guess side-zips way back in the day, i never really expected to ever, ever wear another pair of jeans that exceeded my then-newly established one-zipper maximum rule. buuuut.... here i am. totally digging this skinny pair by gap.

the year of the driving glove!

i hereby declare 2006 the year of the driving glove. last year, i wanted a crochet & leather pair (inspired by a dkny ad) but couldn't find any anywhere...until now. i have a good feeling this time. THIS is the year, my friends. i start now with this fantastically cute green leather pair.

oh, and yes, it's still 105 degrees out.

i like big bags and i cannot lie.

this is so colorful and fun... and, of course, huge.

the other day at work during an awkwardly quiet elevator ride, some guy was like, 'so, that's a big bag. you could carry a chainsaw in it.' i really don't know what that was supposed to mean... but yeah... i like my bags big.

velvet...

i'm usually pretty skeptical of velvet, but this dress seems to pull it off quite nicely... maybe it's the color or the pairing with the silk georgette... either way, this dress is lovely.

jersey pride.

i discovered this brand via oh joy! i too love jersey knit, and this site is completely full of it. ball it up, throw it in your bag and throw it on after work... that's the beauty of it.

and not only is joy great for bringing the brand to my attention, she is completely right about it being available everywhere (like 10 minutes away, for once, instead of the usual two hours), including these fine online retailers: standard style, go clothing, revolve, and shopbop.

i don't know if soap excites you as it does me, but this site may be the best find in recent weeks. it brings a huge assortment of soaps from all over the world into one simple little site. and, not only can you browse by design (this is where i started), you can also browse by country, fragrance, brand, ingredient and soap or skin type!

these are just a few of the ones that caught my eye, from countries such as india, spain, england and france. prices range from a little to a lot...these are $1.99 (for the neem from india) to $15.99 (por el jabon de espana). love the idea of jet black soap contrasting with that bright white cube.
