unzipped.

when i threw out the old guess side-zips way back in the day, i never really expected to ever, ever wear another pair of jeans that exceeded my then-newly established one-zipper maximum rule. buuuut.... here i am. totally digging this skinny pair by gap.

here we go!

this is the pair! unfortunately, they don't have this color anymore... so the search will continue.

but imagine pretty red nails underneath...

the year of the driving glove!

i hereby declare 2006 the year of the driving glove. last year, i wanted a crochet & leather pair (inspired by a dkny ad) but couldn't find any anywhere...until now. i have a good feeling this time. THIS is the year, my friends. i start now with this fantastically cute green leather pair.

oh, and yes, it's still 105 degrees out.

i like big bags and i cannot lie.

this is so colorful and fun... and, of course, huge.

the other day at work during an awkwardly quiet elevator ride, some guy was like, 'so, that's a big bag. you could carry a chainsaw in it.' i really don't know what that was supposed to mean... but yeah... i like my bags big.

velvet...

i'm usually pretty skeptical of velvet, but this dress seems to pull it off quite nicely... maybe it's the color or the pairing with the silk georgette... either way, this dress is lovely.

oh so affordable.

these 'oh' chairs by karim rashid are wonderfully designed and wonderfully cheap. i've seen them for as low as $50...so it might be nice to have a few. i like the white or the sky blue.

i too am coveting this overnight bag... it makes me want to go somewhere right now!

for those of you who can't get enough of me, check out covetable, a blog by a fellow greedy girl with similar style and tastes. read about the stuff she wants here! we are, in fact, blogging twins who have recently discovered each other.

jersey pride.

i discovered this brand via oh joy! i too love jersey knit, and this site is completely full of it. ball it up, throw it in your bag and throw it on after work... that's the beauty of it.

and not only is joy great for bringing the brand to my attention, she is completely right about it being available everywhere (like 10 minutes away, for once, instead of the usual two hours), including these fine online retailers: standard style, go clothing, revolve, and shopbop.

just putting it out there that this is one great-looking chair for one great price. for $35, is superb quality (or ethics, for some) really a problem?

i don't know if soap excites you as it does me, but this site may be the best find in recent weeks. it brings a huge assortment of soaps from all over the world into one simple little site. and, not only can you browse by design (this is where i started), you can also browse by country, fragrance, brand, ingredient and soap or skin type!

these are just a few of the ones that caught my eye, from countries such as india, spain, england and france. prices range from a little to a lot...these are $1.99 (for the neem from india) to $15.99 (por el jabon de espana). love the idea of jet black soap contrasting with that bright white cube.

very cherry.

not in a chatty mood but wanted to share that i found this tonight for supercheap (like $12, as opposed to $17, as listed on the target web site). the red piping is very fun, and it has the cheery nick + nora cherry pie print on the inside.

remember when nick + nora was all the rage and cost much more than target prices? ah, the days...

nick + nora cherry pie print robe
target, $17.49 (on the web site)

a dress of a dilemma.

i recently picked this up at target and fell in love with it (on the rack). i tried it on and tried to convince myself it looked great on, despite the boyfriend's unconvincing nods of 'approval.'

i like to think it looks better on me than it does on this model (it looks kind of retro factory worker on her...lucy and the chocolate factory, anyone?). it's much more boxy on her, while it's much more fitted on me (thank you, unwanted curves accentuated by unwanted weight).

i just don't know what to do! if you saw it in the stores, you'd love it, too. then you'd run your fingers over it and love it even more (super-lightweight and soft to boot).

i'm considering just biting it and wearing it to work tomorrow so i can get a good idea of what it looks like since i'll have access to huge mirrors. i had been using the reflection of a giant framed print on the wall at home, but it's been taken down for the move, leaving me with just a medicine cabinet mirror that can't even begin to capture my entire body.

please feel free to comment and voice your opinions. i tried to pair a suede olive-y green wide belt with it (matches the tiniest stripe in the pattern) but it won't work. suggestions...please...

i'm a stainiac, stainiac...

being the low-maintenance gal that i am, i love a good, long-lasting lip stain and loathe anything requiring frequent reapplication or mirrors.

this lip and cheek stain by thebalm creates the same effect that a tasty raspberry snowcone (my favorite!) would on the lips. and, i might be crazy, but it even kind of tastes the same...

while i love the idea of killing two birds with one stone, i find that with my pale skin, using this on my lips and cheeks is just a little too intense and kind of makes me look like i just ran six miles. separately, though? perfect.

bolsa bonanza.

everyone knows i'm a fan of the mexican shopping bag. so tonight i bring you... drum roll please... this great site for many a great bolsa.

on a bitter note, let me remind you the mermaid bag once belonged to me but no longer does (and, no, holly... it wasn't you.). oh, what a great bag it was.

for the past couple years, one of my favorite things to bring out in the summer has been a pink mesh shopping bag (like this) featuring frida kahlo's wounded deer. i love it so much, and the mesh is beginning to come apart in a dangerous way (it somehow sliced my finger open last year!), but i refuse to give it up. it even earns me horrified looks from children. that, my friends, is what i call a bag success.

at less than $10 apiece, you can't afford to not stock up on a variety of these wonderfully tacky totes.

bin-issimo!

in our new place, we've got this skinny little closet by the bathroom. since we'll have zero storage space in the bathroom, the skinny closet will have to be it. i'd like to keep it ultraorganized, though, since i want it to be presentable to curious guests.

for everything but towels, a few of these on each shelf would work great. love the green (surprise). also, the blue and orange are runners-up.

i know it's horrible of me to post fabulous things that are sold out, but i couldn't resist showing you this.

p.s. i apologize for what has been and will continue to be (for the next week or so) quite sporadic blogging. i'm mid-move, which means my apartment is a mess and i can't keep distracting myself with the internet. i'm supposed to be packing, but i'm not doing a very fine job.
